Prolific press release blogger and media manager Jerry Daykin is a seasoned coeliac traveller but almost met his match in Argentina."Normally the mention of gluten on the front of packaging is a great thing as it's proceeded by 'no', but down here just about everything likes to boast that yes, indeed, it does contain gluten."
"I'm not sure if they add extra gluten to their bread or if the country has a sad history of being forced to eat gluten free bread against its will but there's no prouder sales claim in these parts than 'con gluten'!"
Yet there is hope for Coeliac's visiting the country famed for fine steak and football.
"Dinner's never a problem as long as you're happy with a big chunk of meat and a few papas fritas!"
Coeliac visitors to the country take note! Whilst supermarkets may stock a few biscuits a town's dietician is the way forward. 859 Viamonte is a particularly good find in Buenos Aires, you'll be amazed at the things that can be made without gluten.
"I'm now carrying so much gluten free stuff around it's everyone else who's left struggling for food!"

I'm glad to say I've kept off the gluten and survived two over night coach trips without needing regular pit stops!!
